The Water Treatment Plant Operator performs intermediate technical work performing operational, analytical, and maintenance tasks necessary to provide potable and palatable water within the Federal and State standards. Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of chemical and plant controls and the maintenance of plant equipment in proper condition. Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, and possession of a Maryland Class 4 Water Plant Operator License. Candidates must have a MD, DC or VA PE License or ability to obtain same, a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, MS degree preferred, and 8 to 12 years experience in wastewater/water engineering. Experience in wastewater collection, pumping and secondary/tertiary treatment facilities as well as process and facility design is required. Client and regulatory personnel experience in MD is preferred. This position requires strong technical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
